The Bixby Terrace District of Long Beach gets its name from The Bixby Family. The Bixby's owned the two major Spanish Land Grants from which most of Long Beach was developed. Bixby Terrace, was sub-divided and developed in 1937 by Debble-Chapman. On March 7th 1937 ad Pre-development ad was run in the Press-Telegram describing the area.
